Kaguya-sama: Love is War Basics
Kaguya-sama: Love in War takes place in an elite school, where every student either came from a rich and powerful family, or earned the right to be there through intelligence, hard work, and dedication.
For example, student council vice-president Kaguya Shinomiya is from a wealthy, high-class family. (She’s quite intelligent as well.) Meanwhile, student council president Miyuki Shirogane doesn’t come from wealth, but he is clearly worthy of his position at school.
These two are potential soulmates. But in this series, even minor flirting becomes a battle of wits.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War History
The series began with a manga series by Aka Akasaka. The manga and its sequels ran in a couple of different Jump (Shueisha) publications from 2015 to 2022.
The first anime adaptation aired in 2019. It was followed by a couple of sequels. An anime film came out in 2022.
The series was also adapted as a couple of live-action films in 2019 and 2021.

Where to Watch Kaguya-sama: Love is War Online
1. Netflix Singapore
Netflix Singapore has the first season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War. The streaming service has multiple language options, but it does not have the entire series.
Netflix Japan has the entire series, but only in Japanese with no translation. Netflix Japan also has the anime movie Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – The First Kiss That Never Ends. The streaming service divides the movie up into four parts.
Either way, you may need a good VPN, such as Nord VPN, if you live outside of Singapore or Japan.
How to Watch Kaguya-sama: Love is War on Netflix Anywhere in the World
This method works on both desktop PCs and mobile phones or tablets.
- Purchase (or start a free trial) of a VPN. I can confirm that NordVPN works for this purpose.
- In the settings, choose Singapore as your location.
- Fire up the VPN and wait for it to do its magic
- Once you’re connected, navigate to Netflix (browser or app)
- Search “Kaguya-sama: Love is War” in the Netflix search bar and you should see the anime pop up.
Enjoy! Please note that if your Netflix library doesn’t update to reflect the country you selected in your VPN, you may have to clear the Netflix cache first and try again.
To do this on mobile, go to settings -> apps -> Netflix -> clear cache. To do this on PC, you have to clear the cache in your web browser.

Crunchyroll has all three anime seasons. It also has the anime film. Like Netflix Japan, Crunchyroll divides the movie into four parts.
Crunchyroll’s language options are good, but you may be geo-locked out in some areas.
If you’re not in one of the geo-locked countries, you can get a couple of episodes for free without a subscription.

Hulu has the first season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Subbed and dubbed versions are separate.

5. Netflix Japan (live-action)
I included Netflix Japan separately from Netflix Singapore because of the movie-length live-action adaptations, which you can’t find just anywhere.
The live-action movies are only available in Japanese without any translation. However, they are interesting additions for Kaguya-sama fans who can’t get enough of the series.
These include the 2019 live-action movie, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, which is available here. That was followed up by the 2021 sequel, Kaguya-sama Final: Love is War, which you can find here.
In 2021, they also produced a group of five live-action mini-episodes. These episodes are only about 7-10 minutes long. But they adapt parts of the manga which were not included in the live-action movies.
You can also watch all of the anime series. If you want the full series in Japanese only, go with Netflix Japan. If you want season 1 with subtitles, go with Netflix Singapore. The same VPN instructions should help either way.
