With the recent release of Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, a lot of people are wondering where they can watch this anime film online.

Fortunately, we can help you find where to stream the movie. But first, what is Sword of the Wizard King, and how does it fit into the Black Clover story?

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Basics

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is the first film based upon the shonen manga and TV anime series Black Clover

Like a lot of anime-based films, the movie is not canon to the manga. If you are familiar with the Black Clover characters and story, you should understand the movie.

However, the movie’s plot does not feature any story from the manga. The creators of Black Clover have stated that the movie tells an original story. According to reports, Black Clover manga creator Yuki Tabata has described it as a “why didn’t you do this” story.

When Does The Movie Happen?

Many websites agree that Sword of the Wizard King takes place during the timeskip after the Elf Reincarnation Arc in the manga. (It’s one of those “hero training” timeskips found in a lot of shonen stories.)

This places the film in the middle of Season 4, before the beginning of the upcoming Season 5.

If you’re unfamiliar with the series, Black Clover features Asta, a teenage boy with no magic in a world filled with it. However, Asta develops other abilities. These include Anti-Magic, which allows him to cancel out magic. Asta’s ultimate goal is become the wizard king.

The film’s main villain is the rebellious Wizard King Conrad Leto, who seeks to destroy the Clover Kingdom.

This method works on both desktop PCs and mobile phones or tablets.

  2. In the settings, choose United States as your location.
  3. Fire up the VPN and wait for it to do its magic

Enjoy! Please note that if your Netflix library doesn’t update to reflect the country you selected in your VPN, you may have to clear the Netflix cache first and try again.

To do this on mobile, go to settings -> apps -> Netflix -> clear cache. To do this on PC, you have to clear the cache in your web browser.

I’ve had no trouble using this method and I still use NordVPN to watch anime from various Netflix country libraries daily.

4. Other Options?

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie website (in Japanese)

Netflix doesn’t believe in movie theaters. It prefers to stick with home viewing.

So it seems unlikely that Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will ever appear in theaters outside of Japan.

That might also explain why Anime Expo (July 1-4 in Los Angeles) has a booth for the Black Clover mobile game, but not the movie.

If you’re in Japan, a limited number of movie theaters are showing the movie. These screenings are only in Japanese, but they do come with freebies.

Pros

  • Full-size screen

Cons

  • Only in Japan
  • Limited times

Price: Depends on the theater
