If you’re a fan of tsundere characters, romantic comedy, and action-adventure anime, you should definitely watch Inuyasha online.

While not every streaming service has Inuyasha, or its sequel, Yashahime, you do have several options. But, if you don’t know which choice is right for you, this watch guide can help.

Inuyasha Plot and Basics

Inuyasha at Netflix - Rumiko Takahashi/ Shogakukan/ Yomiuri Television/ Sunrise

In Inuyasha, high school student Kagome time travels to medieval Japan, right before the beginning of the Edo Period. There she meets Inuyasha, a dog half-demon with a troubled, tragic past.

These two go on a quest for the shards of the Shikon jewel, a powerful gem. Naturally, they fight plenty of demons; plus a mysterious villain pulling the strings from the background.

The story features medieval fantasy action-adventure, fun and flawed characters, romantic comedy, and a good sense of humor.

Rumiko Takahashi created the manga in 1996. (She is also behind Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma ½, Rin-ne, and Mao.)

The anime ran from 2000 to 2004. After the manga ended in 2008, the anime returned with Inuyasha: The Final Act in 2009-2010.

The series also has four movies — Affections Touching Across Time (2001); The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass (2002); Swords of an Honorable Ruler (2003); and Fire on the Mystic Island (2004).

The sequel anime series Hanyo no Yashahime, a.k.a. Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, started in 2020. Yashahime has had two seasons, with rumors of a season 3.

How to Watch Inuyasha on Netflix if The App Isn’t Available in your Country

As of this article, Inuyasha is available on Netflix in the United States. However, if the anime series is geo-locked in your area, a VPN can help.

This method works on both desktop PCs and mobile phones or tablets.

  1. Purchase (or start a free trial) of a VPN. I can confirm that NordVPN works for this purpose.
  2. In the settings, choose United States as your location.
  3. Fire up the VPN and wait for it to do its magic
  4. Once you’re connected, navigate to Netflix (browser or app)
  5. Search “Inuyasha” in the Netflix search bar and you should see the anime pop up.

Enjoy! Please note that if your Netflix library doesn’t update to reflect the country you selected in your VPN, you may have to clear the Netflix cache first and try again.

To do this on mobile, go to settings -> apps -> Netflix -> clear cache. To do this on PC, you have to clear the cache in your web browser.

I’ve had no trouble using this method and I still use NordVPN to watch anime from various Netflix country libraries daily.
