Main Food Wars Characters
Souma Yukihira:
A fan-favorite Food Wars character and the protagonist in the series is an energetic and determined boy named Souma Yukihira. Souma never backs down from a challenge and faces all kinds of powerful foes throughout the series as he is determined to become the best chef in the entire world. While he describes his cooking style as Yukihira style, Souma can really cook any and all kinds of foods. This young chef is often described by his peers to be super creative as he likes to experiment with his food.
Erina Nakiri:
This female main character actually starts out as an antagonist but eventually becomes one of Souma’s closest friends and rivals. Erina is feared by many chefs in the culinary world as she possesses the “God’s Tongue.” This girl is able to describe every single ingredient in a dish after just a single taste.
Megumi Tadokoro:
She might not look as intimidating as our other two main characters but Megumi is definitely able to cook amazing food. Megumi’s only weakness is that she gets nervous very easily. However, this girl always works extremely hard and still manages to surprise every single chef with her skills in the kitchen.
Side Food Wars Characters
Jouichirou Yukihira:
Jouichirou Yukihira is the father of Souma Yukihira and a legendary chef. Many, including our protagonist, look up to Jouichirou as he showcases the qualities of a true master chef.
Aldini Brothers:
Takumi Aldini is the more prominent one out of the Aldini brothers and some might even call him a main character. Takumi considers Souma to be his ultimate rival and wants to surpass him one day.
Isami Aldini has more of a laid-back personality compared to his brother and gets along with everyone.
Satoshi Ishiki:
This charismatic young man is the senior of Souma and a part of the elite ten at Tootsuki Culinary Academy. He also lives in the same dorm as Souma and the two are very friendly with each other.
Ikumi Mito:
Ikumi starts off as an antagonist in the story but eventually becomes friends with Souma. Known as The Meat Master, Ikumi can cook all meat dishes with extreme mastery.
Alice Nakiri:
Definitely my favorite Food Wars character, Alice is the cousin of Erina and a master of molecular gastronomy. She makes some very unique dishes by combining traditional cooking methods with science.
Ryou Kurokiba:
Ryou seems pretty uninterested and dull most of the times and only attends to Alice’s needs. However, this man becomes a totally different person in the kitchen.
Azami Nakiri:
Azami Nakiri is an antagonist in the series and the father of Erina Nakiri. This man was kicked out of the family and Tootsuki Academy because of his unethical take on the world of cooking.
Akira Hayama:
Akira Hayama is one of the rivals of Souma Yukihira. This master-chef has a very sharp sense of smell and is known for his beautiful use of spices in food. Akira is a very confident young man that is never afraid to show off his skills.
Asahi Saiba:
Asahi Saiba is the charming antagonist in the latest season of the series. Being the leader of the Noirs, Asahi is a very talented chef that was even able to beat Souma’s father.
Eishi Tsukasa:
Eishi Tsukasa holds the first seat at the Elite Ten Council of Tootsuki Academy. Despite being extremely talented, Eishi believes that he doesn’t really deserve the top spot at Tootsuki Academy.
Rindou Kobayashi:
Possessing cat-like features and beautiful red hair, Rindou is a hot-blooded chef and holds the second spot in the Elite Ten.
Voice Actors in Food Wars
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka plays our loud and energetic protagonist, Yukihira Souma. This man holds the Guinness world record for “The largest number of lines performed by a single voice actor in a mobile game.” He also won the 10th Seiyuu Awards as Best Actor in a leading role. His other notable works include:
- Kirito from Sword Art Online.
- Sora from No Game No Life.
- Bell Cranel from DanMachi.
Risa Taneda
Risa Taneda is the talented voice behind Erina Nakiri. However, due to certain complications, she was later replaced by another VA. Risa has played some very well-known roles in other anime series. Some of her roles include:

- Mirai Kuriyama from Beyond the Boundary.
Minami Takahashi
Minami Takahashi plays Megumi Tadokoro in the series, and her cute voice perfectly suits the character. Some of her other roles include:
