While a lot of people who don’t really watch it might think anime is mostly fast super-powered fights and beam struggles there are actually a lot of different subgenres of anime that cover pretty much every theme you can imagine. From action to romance to tragedy there is probably an anime for anyone’s taste and that includes people with more lewd leanings. Generally, anime with these kinds of themes and scenes are known as ecchi anime.
The term “ecchi” comes from the Japanese pronunciation of the letter “H,” which stands for “hentai,” a more explicit form of anime and manga that contains pornography. Ecchi anime usually includes comedic elements and is aimed at a teenage or young adult audience. The content is usually not explicit enough to be considered pornography, but it is often sexually suggestive.
For today we are going to bring to you about some of the best ecchi anime of all time. Don’t worry, there won’t be any straight-up Hentai on this list but some of the shows we are about to talk about definitely blur the lines.

Our first ecchi anime is one to write home about. Hanagai is a story about a high school student named Kodaka Hasegawa, who has difficulty making friends due to his blond hair and delinquent-like appearance. He meets a loner girl named Yozora Mikazuki and the two decide to make a club for people that don’t have a lot of friends. Somehow this leads to several scenes that make you think the characters are looking for more than just friends.
7. High School of the Dead
Continuing this ecchi anime list with a big contender in High School of the Dead. The story is set in a Japanese high school, where the students are when a virus starts turning people into flesh-craving zombies. Not exactly what you think would be a setup for an ecchi series but the show ups a lot of emphasis on the female characters’ generous assets and fanservice. There’s even a scene of all the female characters having a bath and there is no censoring.
The main thing that draws back this series is that it is only one season and the manga was also unfortunately cut short after the untimely passing of the author due to illness.
6. High School DxD
Next up is another high school-focused show but instead of zombies, it’s not about angles and devils fighting each other. The story follows a perverted high school student named Issei Hyodo, who is killed on his first date by a girl who turned out to be an angel. However, he is resurrected as a devil by a beautiful senior student named Rias Gremory who is also a devil.
Issei becomes Rias’ servant and joins her devil family, the Gremory clan. As a devil, Issei gains various powers and abilities, and he becomes involved in battles between different factions of devils, angels, and fallen angels. This series has a ton of fan service, helped along by the fact that Issei is infinitely down bad and is surrounded by devil girls.
5. To Love-Ru
The story of To Love-Ru follows a high school student named Rito Yuuki who is in love with his classmate, Haruna Sairenji. One day, while taking a bath, he is surprised by the sudden appearance of a beautiful naked girl named Lala Satalin Deviluke. Lala is an alien princess who has come to Earth to avoid an arranged marriage, and she quickly falls in love with Rito after their unexpected encounter.
As the story progresses, Rito finds himself constantly surrounded by various beautiful girls, including Lala’s younger sister Momo, who also has feelings for him.

4. Prison School
Once again we are back to high schools on our ecchi anime list. The story of Prison School takes place at Hachimitsu Academy, a formerly all-girls boarding school that has just begun admitting boys. Five boys enroll in the school, but they soon find themselves imprisoned in the school’s underground prison by the Shadow Student Council, a group of girls who enforce strict rules and regulations on male students.
The boys then try to escape the school and expose the council’s corruption. Throughout the series there are several lewd scenes with many of the female characters being given very generous proportions.
3. Everyday Life with Monster Girls
The show features anthropomorphic monster girls so you know it has to end up here. Everyday Life with Monster Girls takes place in a world where humans live alongside mythical creatures like harpies, centaurs, and mermaids. The story focuses on Kimihito Kurusu, who becomes the host to several monster girls after they are assigned to live with him thanks to a new government program.
From their hijinks ensue including the standard harem anime moments with a ton of fan service.
2. Food Wars!
This ecchi anime takes the term “food porn” to a whole new level. The story follows a young aspiring chef named Soma Yukihira, who dreams of becoming a great chef like his father, who owns a small restaurant in Tokyo. The thing is the food in Food Wars! is so good that it literally makes people foodgasm and the show does not hold back with the clothes coming off or with the number of times it happens.
1. The Testament of Sister New Devil
This anime brings loving your family to a whole new. The story follows a young man named Basara Toujou, who suddenly becomes the stepbrother of two demon sisters named Mio and Maria Naruse after his father remarries. However, Basara soon learns that Mio is actually the future Demon Lord and that he and his family are now targets of various supernatural factions that seek to kill her and claim her power.
Basara soon develops romantic relationships with the demon sisters and other female characters who join his harem.
