Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie is a unique romantic comedy anime series to watch online.

The series features an unlucky high school student, and his cute girlfriend. But, as the title implies, she’s much more than just cute.

While Izumi seems to be cursed with bad luck, Shikimori is always there to rescue him when things go wrong. Her cute outer surface hides a strong, athletic, and downright heroic girl.

Keigo Maki started the manga version of Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie in 2019. Kodansha ran it on its Magazine Pocket (a.k.a. “Magapoke”) website and app. The manga officially ended in 2023.

The first season of the anime aired in 2022. At the time that this was written, it was not clear if there would be a season 2 or not.

The series’ English title is a fairly accurate translation of its Japanese title, Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san.
