If you’re a volleyball fan, sports anime fan, or shonen fan, you should watch Haikyu!! online. But even if you think you wouldn’t be interested in these things, Haikyu!! is a fun series worth considering.

If you want to know where to watch Haikyu!! online, we can help. We will also demonstrate how to use a VPN to watch anime.

(Note: The series is also sometimes spelled Haikyuu!!, but Crunchyroll, Netflix, etc. all seem to prefer Haikyu!! with one “u.”)

An Introduction to Haikyu!!

Haikyu!! Final movie promo at Toho Movie Channel on YouTube - "Haikyu!!" Production Committee - Haruichi Furudate/Shueisha

Haikyu!! is an excellent volleyball anime series. (And no, it’s not the only volleyball anime.)

It features underdog shonen protagonist Hinata Shoyo, and his friend/ rival Tobio Kageyama. These two join forces to help their school’s team achieve victory. It sounds somewhat typical, with its “wanna be the best” shonen hero and team spirit. But it easily rises to the top of sports anime with humor, heart, and action.

Haruichi Furudate created the Haikyu!! manga. Weekly Shonen Jump published it from 2012 to 2020, and the first anime season began in 2014.

So far, the anime has four seasons, four movies, and a handful of direct-to-video OVAs and OADs.  According to reports, a new, two-part movie, Haikyu!! Final, will arrive in 2023. (Since the movie will cover the final chapters of the manga, it’s likely that there won’t be a Haikyu!! season 5.)

Haikyu!!: The Movie - The End and the Beginning at Netflix Japan

Netflix has Haikyu!!, but you will need a VPN to watch in many places.

First of all, Netflix United States took the series down in 2021. Netflix Japan does have the anime series (plus some OVAs) but only in untranslated Japanese.

However, you can watch the four Haikyu!! anime compilation movies on Netflix Japan in Japanese with English subtitles. The four films are Haikyu!! The Movie: The End and the Beginning; Haikyu!! 2: The Winner and the Loser; Haikyu!! 3: Genius and Sense; and Haikyu!! 4: Battle of Concepts. These films recap vital plot points from the series.

Netflix Hong Kong and Netflix Singapore have the fourth season (25 episodes), and none of the movies. But the language options are excellent.

If you speak Korean, you will want Netflix South Korea. It has the series and first two movies in Japanese with Korean subtitles.

How to Watch Haikyu!! on Netflix from Anywhere in the World

Like all anime, Haikyu!! may sometimes only be available on Netflix in certain countries. If you log on and can’t find Haikyu!! in your Netflix library, don’t worry! You can get around that problem by using a VPN.

As of the writing of this article, Haikyu!! season 4 is available on Netflix Hong Kong (in English). All you have to do is use a VPN to fake a Hong Kong IP address.

The following method works on both desktop PCs and mobile phones or tablets:

  1. Purchase (or start a free trial) of a VPN. We’ve verified that NordVPN works.
  2. In the settings, choose Hong Kong as your location.
  3. Fire up the VPN and wait.
  4. Once you’re connected, navigate to Netflix (browser or app).
  5. Search “Haikyu!!” in the Netflix search bar and you should see Haikyu!! pop up.

Enjoy! Please note that if your Netflix library doesn’t update to reflect the country you selected in your VPN, you may have to clear the Netflix cache and try again.

To do this on mobile, go to settings -> apps -> Netflix -> clear cache. To do this on PC, you have to clear the cache in your browser.
