Are you looking for a unique Mobile Suit Gundam series? You should watch Gundam AGE online.

Admittedly, AGE is not the most popular Gundam anime. But AGE combines good old-fashioned giant robot mecha suit battle action with an art style reminiscent of Pokémon shows.

In addition, it also has a serious and grim storyline which features a multi-generational war, personal family and romantic drama, and lots of references to the original Gundam timeline.

Unfortunately, this series can be tricky to stream legally. U.S. residents may have trouble finding it at all. We can help you find where to watch Gundam AGE online.

If you live outside of Japan, most of these methods will require a VPN, such as NordVPN. If you don’t already have one, you should get one.

About Gundam AGE

Gundam AGE trailer at Right Stuf Anime (Sotsu/ Sunrise)

Created in 2011, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE is the 12th version of the long-running Gundam franchise. The story focuses on a “One Hundred Years’ War” (not the Medieval one). The two sides are the Earth Federation and its colonies, and an “Unknown Enemy” (UE) which attacks Earth. However, the UE aliens are not what they seem at first. The true nature of the UE is a spoiler.

The Gundams in this series are Advanced Generation mechas, based upon old Gundam blueprints and something called the AGE System. The new AGE Gundams have the ability to “evolve,” meaning that new weapons can be developed to fit a specific situation.

Just like with the original series, Sunrise created the Gundam AGE anime before the manga. The 49-episode Gundam AGE was followed by several manga, and a 2013 OVA, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden.

1. Amazon Prime Video (Japan)

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE at Amazon Prime Video (Japan)

If you are in Japan, or if you have a good VPN, you can watch Gundam AGE at Amazon Prime Video.

You can watch the first episode for free. The rest can be rented for 110 yen each. These episodes are in Japanese with no translation.

Amazon Japan will ask you to disable your VPN if it detects that you are using one. If you get stuck, you may want to switch browsers.

Pros

  • First episode free
  • A good selection of anime shows

Cons

  • Only available in Japan (or with a VPN)
  • No translation
  • Renting, not buying episodes

Language options: Japanese

Price: First episode free, 110 yen an episode

2. Bandai Channel

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE at Bandai Channel

The corporation which owns the entire Gundam franchise — from the anime studio Sunrise (a.k.a. Bandai Namco Filmworks) to all of those plastic Gundam models — has Gundam AGE on its streaming website.

You have to either be in Japan or have a good VPN. I was able to watch the first episode for free with no problems. However, the rest of the episodes require subscribing to Bandai Channel.

As with Amazon Japan, the episodes do not have any English subtitles.

Pros

  • First episode free
  • Some other Sunrise/ Bandai anime shows also available

Cons

  • Only in Japan (or with a VPN)
  • No translation
  • Renting, not buying

Language options: Japanese

Price: First episode free. Each episode is 110 yen, plus 1,100 yen a month to subscribe to the Bandai Channel.

3. YouTube

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE at YouTube

In Japan, you can rent individual episodes of Gundam AGE on YouTube. Or, you can rent the entire season as a package deal. If you click on “2 ways to watch,” you can also find the Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden OVA.

Once again, these are untranslated. YouTube offers the first episode free (but you will need payment information). If you have a VPN, you can watch these outside of Japan.

The official Gundam Channel on YouTube posts free episodes of Gundam AGE, but it’s not easy to find them.  If you need help, I found the first few episodes HERE

You have to be in Japan (or have a VPN), as the individual episodes are geo-locked. Episode 1 is divided into two parts — Here’s part 1 of episode 1. As of December 2022, the channel is still adding episodes.

Pros

  • First episode free
  • Free episodes also at the Gundam Channel

Cons

  • Limited language options

Language options: Japanese

Price: First episode free, 110 yen per episode. The whole season: 3700 yen. Free episodes at Gundam Channel.

4. ZenPlus

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden at ZenPlus

ZenPlus currently has the Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden OVA on Blu-ray.

You can get the Japanese original from Bandai Visual. Or you can get the Right Stuf Anime/ Sunrise U.S. version. One big difference between the two is that the Bandai version is designed for Japanese viewers. If you want English subtitles or dubbing, you need Right Stuf.

Because North America and Japan are in the same Blu-ray region, the discs should be playable in both the U.S. and Japan. However, in some countries, you will need a Japan-compatible Blu-ray player.

Pros

  • Get a physical, permanent copy
  • Good language options
  • Bonus features on the Blu-ray

Cons

  • Buying is expensive
  • Could encounter Blu-ray region problems

Language option: Japanese with English subtitles; English dubbed (Right Stuf). Japanese only (Bandai)

Price: $38.59 (Right Stuf); $69.61 (Bandai)

Buy Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden at ZenPlus.

5. Amazon

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE Blu-ray at Amazon.

If all else fails, you can always buy the Blu-ray from Amazon. You may also be able to find it at other anime websites, such as Right Stuf Anime in the U.S.

Doing it this way can get expensive. Also, Blu-ray Collection 1 only has episodes 1-28; you will need to buy Collection 2 to get the complete series.

Still, if you have a local anime club, or if you want a permanent copy, you may want to consider this option.

If you are in North America, you should be able to get the U.S. version of the series. However, if you do get the Japan version, the Americas and Japan are in the same Blu-ray region.

Pros

  • Get a physical, permanent copy
  • Good language options
  • No geo-locking (but check your Blu-ray region)
  • Bonus features

Cons

  • Buying is expensive
  • Could encounter problems in some regions
  • Do you need a permanent copy?

Language options: Japanese with English subtitles; English dubbed.

Price: More than $50.

Buy Gundam AGE at Amazon.

As you can see from the above choices, finding Gundam AGE isn’t easy. But with this guide, and a good VPN, such as Nord VPN, you should be able to enjoy the whole series.
