A good blanket can really help heat a person up during cold weather. Although blankets are often associated with beds, they can be used lots of other places. You can put one on a couch, sofa, or anywhere where an extra layer of warmth might be appreciated.

A Pokemon blanket could give your home an extra splash of color. And of course, they are great for showing that you are a fan of the franchise.

Even if you aren’t a fan, a blanket could make a good gift for the Pokemon trainer in your life.

About Pokemon

New Pokemon 2023 series promo from the official Japanese YouTube channel - Nintendo/ Creatures/ Game Freak/ TV Tokyo/ ShoPro/ JR Kikaku/ Pokémon

Can you believe that Pokemon, or Pocket Monsters, has been around for almost three decades?

Satoshi Tajiri created the original Red and Green video games, which were released in 1996. And they were followed by the first Pokemon: Indigo League anime series in 1997.

Since then, millions have caught, collected, and trained Pokemon, and sent them into battle against other trainers. The anime series is a long-runner, coming in ahead of One Piece, Dragon Ball, and Naruto in total number of episodes.

Naturally, the merch opportunities for such a popular franchise would be huge.

The Best Pokemon Blankets

1. Yellow Pikachu, ZenPlus
Pikachu (Pokemon) blanket at ZenPlus

This item seems to be aimed at the many older Pokemon fans who may be starting families of their own. The blanket features happy Pikachu against a yellow background. It also includes Pikachu’s Pokedex number, #025.

This item is described as a large towel or nap blanket. It’s about 2.9 feet by 4.5 feet, which is a little larger than a nap mat. But it should be good for a toddler or little kid.

The same item is also available in Toy Story, My Melody, Doraemon, The Little Mermaid, and Sumikko Gurashi varieties.

You can find this item at ZenPlus.

2. Winter Wonders, Pokemon Center

Winter Wonders blanket at the Pokemon Center

The U.S. version of the official Pokemon Center offers this very subtle and understated Pokemon-themed throw blanket. It’s part of the Winter Wonders collection, which includes dishes, ornaments, napkins, and holiday stockings, among other things.

Theoretically, you could decorate your whole house for the winter with this stuff. However, this green blanket looks nice enough to stick around after the holidays are over. It has a very simple, stylized metallic gold Pikachu image in the middle. It also has white trim.

One disadvantage to buying directly from the Pokemon Center is that you can only get stuff shipped to U.S. locations.  Canada has a separate section on the Pokemon Center website. If you are in Great Britain, try this website, although they don’t currently have the blanket there.

You can find this item at the Pokemon Center.

3. Squirtle Squad, Amazon

Squirtle Squad (Pokemon) blanket at Amazon

If you’re a fan of the infamous Squirtle Squad, you’ll like this decorative item.

It features the leader of the group — you can tell he’s the leader by his pointy shades — giving a tough guy pose.

In the anime, these Pokemon start out as abandoned Squirtles with sunglasses and troublemaking punk attitudes. Of course, the squad learns to change its ways, and they become firefighters. The leader of the group even joins Ash — although he keeps the awesome sunglasses for whenever the situation calls for shades.

(The Squirtle Squad existed before Kamina from Gurren Lagann, or Franky from One Piece.)

You can find this item at Amazon.

4. Pikachu Plush and Blanket, BoxLunch

Pikachu (Pokemon) plush and blanket from BoxLunch

Good Pokemon blankets are nice to have. But sometimes you want something to snuggle at the same time. This item features both a Pikachu blanket and a plush Pikachu.

If this combination set is sold out at the moment, BoxLunch offers a lot of other anime-themed blankets. But this is one of the better ones.

The retail company is a partner with the nonprofit charity Feeding America. When you buy from BoxLunch, you’re helping to purchase meals for food banks.

Depending upon where you live, you may be able to get this item at one of BoxLunch’s physical stores. But you can also buy it online.

You can find this item at BoxLunch.

5. Kids Comforter, Amazon

Kids Pokemon comforter at Amazon

If you grew up with Pokemon, but you now have a young Pokemon trainer, you might want to get this comforter.

Home decor company Franco offers this item through Amazon. According to the website, the comforter will fit either a twin or full-size kids bed. It’s 72 inches by 86 inches.

The comforter features Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, along with some Pokeballs. The reversible design has a pattern of Pokemon silhouettes on the back.

You can find this item at Amazon.

6. Red Winter Wonders, Pokemon Center

Red Winter Wonders blanket at the Pokemon Center

This is similar to the green Winter Wonders blanket that we mentioned earlier. This one features a lot of little Pikachu silhouettes.

The sherpa blanket is bright red, while the Pikachu pattern is metallic gold. The blanket has white trim around the edge, which gives it a very holiday feel. According to the website, the thing is about 50 inches by 70 inches.

As with all Pokemon Center items, it only ships to the U.S. But you can also find it at the Canada section of the Pokemon Center.

7. Sylveon, Amazon

Sylveon (Pokemon) blanket at Amazon

Here’s one for the Sylveon fans out there. This throw blanket features lots of Sylveon against a pink background.

Sylveon is one of Eevee’s eight possible evolutions. In Pokemon Go, you can get Sylveon by naming an Eevee “Kira” before evolving. (You can only do this once.)

Since Sylveon is a Fairy-type Pokemon, the name might be a reference to “kira-kira” (glittery), but probably not Light “Kira” Yagami from Death Note.
You can find this item at Amazon.

8. Pikachu Burst, BoxLunch

Pikachu "Burst" design blanket (Pokemon) at BoxLunch

Pikachu’s happy, smiling face is surrounded by burst ray lines in this joyful-looking throw Pokemon blanket. BoxLunch calls this a Silk Touch Throw Blanket, which apparently means that it feels like soft silk.

This design demonstrates why Pikachu is the best mascot for Pokemon, more than any other character in the franchise. You don’t even need all of Pikachu; just his warm, yellow, and welcoming face is enough.

You can find this item at BoxLunch.

9. Pokemon Black & White, Amazon

Pokemon: Black & White anime blanket at Amazon

This one is a little different from most of the Pokemon blankets on this list. In addition to the various Pokemon on it, it features Ash Ketchum and the other main human characters from the anime series Pokemon: Black & White. Black & White introduced the Unova region.

Iris and Cilan, Ash’s two main companions for Black & White, are behind Ash. Cynthia (from Sinnoh originally, but she appears in this series) can also be seen off to the left.

It’s hard to tell, but Dawn also appears on the right edge.

You can find this item at Amazon.

10. Kids Blanket and Pillowcase, Amazon

Franco offers this two-part set at Amazon. The main thing is the throw blanket. It features a pattern of little dancing Pikachu, along with outlines of various other Pokemon.

However, you also get this reversible pillowcase. The pillowcase features Pikachu on the front, and a Snorlax and Eevee on the back. The pillow is not included.

You can get this item at Amazon.

Final Thoughts

The blankets in this list are just a small sample of the Pokemon blankets available at Amazon and elsewhere online. However, I tried to pick unique and interesting ones. I also wanted to get items for kids, adults, and the whole family.

I hope this list encourages you to consider buying Pokemon blankets.
