Valentine’s day is coming up and love is in the air. While some of us might be alone when the holiday comes, we can at least enjoy some of the many amazing anime couples. From the beautiful star-crossed lovers to the nail-biting will-they or won’t-theys, there are so many to ship that it was hard to pick just 10.

For this list we are only going to count actual couples, no fan shipping here, they need to be in a relationship in the show or else they are automatically disqualified. That being said, let’s get into, in no particular order, the 10 best anime couples everyone needs to ship.

1. Yor & Loid (Spy X Family)

Anime Couple, Loid and Yor

Starting off this anime couples list with a fairly new anime couple with the “fake” marriage between Loid Forger, AKA Agent Twilight and Yor Forger, formerly Briar. Now, this is cheating a bit as these two aren’t in an actual relationship in the anime or even in the Manga, at least not yet. However on paper, even if those papers were faked, the two are married and Loid even proposed so we’re putting them on this list.

The will they, won’t they of this couple had anime fans instantly fall in love with this couple. Every little moment of intimacy between this couple is adorable as we can all tell that its at least the littlest bit real for both of them, no matter how much they both try to hide it.

2. Inuyasha & Kagome (Inuyasha)

Inuyasha and Kagome

Speaking of will they won’t they relationships, we’re going back to one of anime’s most beloved examples of the trope. Seeing Kagome put herself in harm’s way to kiss and thus calm down the enraged half-demon Inuyasha made this a lot of fans OTP for a while. The Tsundere dynamic that both of them had going on was also definitely a big part of the charm for this anime couple.

3. Naruto & Hinata (Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden)

Naruto and Hinata Anime couple

Everyone can only dream about having someone care about them as much as Hinata cared about Naruto throughout the entire series. This is probably the most obvious pairing in the series with almost every fan getting mad at NAruto for either not noticing or not doing anything about the princess of the Hyuga clan constantly going out of her way to show affection for him. She even literally died for him at one point. Thankfully that death was undone so that we could see them finally get together at the end of Shippuden thanks to the film The Last: Naruto the Movie and then see how they would be like married in Boruto.

4. Shikamaru & Temari (Naruto: Shippuden)

Shikamaru and Temari

Keeping on with the Naruto series with probably one of the best examples of the enemies-to-lovers tropes in anime couples. Shikamaru and Temari’s first interaction with each other was them literally fighting each other in the Chunin exams and through te course of both Naruto series they can be seen together on several occasions. Hints about their relationship status are dropped throughout the series and eventually confirmation of the two being together was finally given at Naruto and Hinata’s wedding.

5. Edward & Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

This anime couple is a perfect example of why you don’t make fun of short kings. The chemistry between these two was constant, if a little uncomfortable because it seemed that Edward only dropped by when he needed to get his prosthetics fixed. However, the time these two spent together throughout the series had gradually lead to them falling in love more than they might have wanted to admit.

6. Ippo & Kumi (Hajime no Ippo)

Yeah, this is pretty much just the anime version of Rocky and Adrian but since it features Ippo it feels a lot more wholesome. The dynamic starts off normally enough with Ippo having a bunch of random encounters with Kumi and progresses on. There is a bit of a hiccup as Ippo finds out that Kumi is the younger sister of one of his rivals, Ryo Mashiba. Seeing their interactions and mutual shyness is just too adorable.

7. Touka & Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul)

These two are so meant to be that even when Kaneki was taking on his Haise persona, he still fell in love with her at first sight. At first, Touka was really rough on Kaneki when he first became a ghoul but after some time she starts to show off her softer side. Eventually, when Kaneki leaves them she becomes distraught and when they finally get back together it hits so hard.

8. Hiro & Zero Two (Darling in the FRANXX)

You knew that this anime couple had to be on this list, Zero Two literally does not stop calling Hiro darling throughout the entire show. This relationship is the definition of a rollercoaster with so many highs and lows that you just need a break afterwards to process all of it. They said that they would be together forever and they followed through on it.

9. Yuri & Victor (Yuri on Ice)

Love is love and Yuri and Victor from Yuri on Ice are one of the very few examples of a same-sex anime couple not only being in a large mainstream anime but also being the main romance and not just one between side characters. On top of that its a very genuine relationship and not played up as weird or for laughs.

10. Yusuke & Keiko (YuYu Hakusho)

Ending off this list with an OG anime couple that is probably a lot of peoples’ first. Yusuke and Keiko had known each other since they were little kids and thus developed a close bond as friends. At least close enough for Keiko to slap the silly out of Yusuke when he starts acting up.

While she is definitely a bit of a hothead, she does still love Yusuke and he does reciprocate 100%, even if it gets him a few more hits to the head on top of the ones that he takes from demons on a regular basis.
